I swore my next bow would be a Mathews after buying my son a Phase 4 this summer, it is such a smooth shooter. Well, that changed when I picked up an end of year VTM 34 for a great price. Hoyts have been a love hate for me. Love my ProForce but seem to fight my helix here and there. The VTM might replace both as I get more used to it.I shot a number of bows and narrowed it down to 3: Hoyt RX-7 Ultra, Bowtech SS34 and Mathews V3X 33. I'd be happy taking anyone of them home. If you can’t shoot both based on the specs the Mathews is a shorter ata at 34ish and the Hoyt is 36ish. The Hoyt in theory should be more forgiving because it is longer. The Mathews will be lighter and slightly faster shooting. The cam feel you have to pull to feel it.I’d go with the Hoyt, from my testing, the Hoyt VTM 31 was faster and quieter than all of the bows I tested. Those bows were the VTM 31, Execute 30, Ominia, Era, Carbon One, and SS 34. It was faster by 5-6 fps, and quieter by 4-5 decibels.
